Choose how massive, how old, and how hot your star is. We’ll tell you what kind of star you’ve made – or if physics says it can’t exist.
1. Choose your star’s properties
1.00 M☉
= 1 Sun
Mass is the main ingredient. Tiny values make faint, low-mass objects. Huge values create extreme stars that live fast and die young. Mass here means how heavy the star is when it’s born. Later on it can lose mass in winds and explosions, so the final core can be much lighter.
Small stars can shine for trillions of years. Very massive stars burn through their fuel quickly and end their lives in dramatic ways.
Cool stars glow more red, warm ones look yellow-white, and the hottest stars appear blue-white. We’ll check if your choice fits the mass.
